SYNOPSIS

Janki Kapoor and her two sons (Ravi Kapoor and Vicky Kapoor) come from a poor middle class family, and have difficulties making ends meet. To add to this burden, the family has to content with the waywardness of Vicky Kapoor, who is always getting into trouble with the law, and getting into fights. It tells the story of a deprived childhood which sees one brother turning out to be the upright, dependable, responsible one in the family, while the other becomes wayward who finally dies at the end.

QUEER NOTES
Various academicians have read homo-erotic subtext in this film where there is intense bonding between the two male lead. There is love and longing that they express through a drunken song like "Tu kal chala jayega to main kya karunga, tu yaad bahut aayega to main kya karunga..." (If you go away tomorrow, what will I do; if I remember you intensely, what will I do?)

ACTOR/S IN QUEER ROLE

Sanjay Dutt as Vicky and Kuram Gaurav as Ravi (male bonding)
