SYNOPSIS
Honeymoon Travels is an off-beat drama weaving together the stories of 6 couples on their honeymoons on the same tourist bus. An elderly couple on their second honeymoon; a middle aged bickering couple who can't get anywhere near each other without scrabbling; the super-compatible super loving Parsi couple; the uptight and insecure Bengali man very much in love with his beautiful, free-spirited wife; and the oddball NRI husband Bunty with his desi, fun-loving wife Madhu. And rounding off the sextet are the Kapoors, the Punjabi couple comprising of talkative Pinky and contemplative Vicky. While everything looks lovey-dovey in the beginning, with familiarity and time, problems crop up. How each couple deals with their own specific problems is the rest of the film.
QUEER NOTES
Bunty, has come from US to India after a breakup with his boyfriend. He gets married to Madhu through a dating site and comes on the bus. Here he gets attracted to Vicky Kapoor who is married to another girl. Bunty confesses to his wife that he is gay following their lack of success to consummate the marriage. The scene is handled very sensitively and gracefully, without any attempt to parody or belittle the issue. One of the most candid portrayal of homosexual desire in Indian cinema, the sequences between Bunty and Vicky Kapoor steams. The scene where Vicky gets drunk and is escorted to the restroom by Bunty, where he confesses his passion is very poignant and touching.
ACTOR/S IN QUEER ROLE
Vikram Chatwal as Bunty and Karan Khanna as Vicky Kapoor (gay)
